Sierra West Boat Works officially opened under new ownership in 2017 from the formally known Walton Marine boat yard located within the Delta Marina, Rio Vista, CA. Advocate boat owners Terry and Mariann Ames of Coleville, CA are the new owners bringing 40+ years of general contractor experience for custom homes from their sister company Sierra West Woodworking. Along side them they bring a team of 20+ years of marine technical experience.
The Ames family passion for vessels dates back generations when Terry's grandfather built a custom wood Sport Runabout. Terry's father, Bob Ames, also managed a 38' commercial fishing boat out of San Diego, CA.
Terry's obsession for boats ranges from refurbishing his personal Hallett speed boat to a Custom Sport fisher. In addition to his technical aptitude Terry skippered multiple commercial fishing vessels up to 52' in early 1980's .
